What is CONNECT?
CONNECT is a wellbeing project for university students at Swansea University and University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Through working with staff & students, our aim is to enhance wellbeing and create supportive communities, to lay the foundations for lifelong positive and healthy behaviours. Our vision is that all students will feel, and will be, connected.
The CONNECT Project is a peer support project for any student at Swansea University. We run one-to-one and group support, as well as training & workshops. Find out more on our website https://connect-wellbeing.wales/
Peer Support
CONNECT offer a peer support service, which is a safe & confidential space for students to talk to other students. Perhaps you want to meet someone with similar interests, you would like some tips on settling into university or you are feeling homesick and just want someone to talk to. We are training & equipping Student Connectors with the skills to engage with and support students who are feeling this way.
Students can visit our website to find out more about the project & the support available or register to find Connectors in the university.
Staff
CONNECT also have Staff Connectors in the university, who are existing staff, already working with students. Staff Connectors are trained in Mental Health First Aid. You can spot Staff Connectors by looking out for the CONNECT logo on their email signatures or finding them on our Staff Connector directory.
Get involved
We have opportunities for both staff & students in the university to undertake training and become ‘Connectors’. You can find out more about these roles or complete an expression interest form here.
Feeling Good App
CONNECT have partnered with The Foundation for Positive Mental Health to provide free access to the Feeling Good App for all staff and students. The app teaches you how to calm your mind and develop a positive mindset, enabling greater emotional resilience to deal more effectively with challenges of everyday life.
