About

What is Movember?
We help our sports teams and societies raise funds for Movember every year to promote positive mental health in men and encourage our male students to take their physical and mental health seriously.
Important Infomation
Why?
Movember kicks off by encouraging men across the world to brave the shave and grow a moustache from scratch. Through our sports clubs and societies, we encouraged and provided support to them to be able to raise as much money as possible for the cause, we’re super pleased to say that our students raised an amazing £32,000! Throughout the month, we organised a rugby match, a Balls-Eye Darts Tournament, and wellbeing workshops. We ended the month with a massive Mo’Ball to celebrate an amazing month of fundraising and promoting good physical and mental wellbeing, as well as hand out awards for the hard working volunteers.
What?
Men are dying on average 5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons.A growing number of men are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides.Movember’s mission is to change the face of men’s health.
When?
Movember runs every November for the entirety of the month. Movember, the month formerly known as November, is when brave and selfless men around the world grow a moustache, and women step up to support them, all to raise awareness and funds for men's health - specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Movember began in Australia in 2003 to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancers
